The Bellingham Blitz met the Washington Wolfpack from Kent, Wash. for the Western Washington Football Alliance league championship Saturday, Aug. 8 at Civic Field. Bellingham's defense set the tone early, keeping the Wolfpack offense scoreless through the first quarter while the Blitz offense, lead by quarterback Leon Lilley, started hot with 24 unanswered points. Washington rallied, scoring 16 points in 11 minutes and holding the Blitz to three points the entire second quarter. However Bellingham seemed to be a team of destiny, dominating the second half with three straight touchdowns in the third quarter to seal the victory and their first WWFA Championship.
